The Serra Project, a California nonprofit organization, was founded in 1987 to provide residences for people living with HIV/AIDS, who would otherwise be homeless or living in unsafe unhealthy conditions. == Services == The Serra Project provides housing and supportive services to AIDS-impacted persons and their families living below the poverty line in Los Angeles County. Housing sites are located throughout Los Angeles County. Housing support programs include several group homes licensed as Residential Care Facilities for the Chronically Ill〔definition of term "Residential Care Facilities for the Chronically Ill" (RCFCI). California state website, Social Services. “()”〕 for clients needing a high level of 24-hour care, as well as more than 90 rental units for permanent supportive housing for those living with both HIV/AIDS and a secondary diagnosis, such as mental health or chemical dependency challenges, who are able to live on their own. The organization also provides housing case management.
